The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has presented a certificate of return to its flagbearer, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

Atiku was handed the certificate of return at an event which held on Wednesday at the party’s headquarters in Abuja.

Present at the event are former Senate President, Bukola Saraki; Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state; Tari Olivia, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa, among others.

The New Diplomat had reported that Atiku, an Adamawa-born politician and serial presidential candidate who has been contesting presidential election in Nigeria since 1993, polled a total of 371 votes to clinch the PDP presidential ticket for the second time running, defeating his closest rival, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state who polled a total of 237 votes and former Senate President, Bukola Saraki who polled 70 votes.

Speaking before the certificate of return was issued to Atiku, Iyorchia Ayu, national chairman of the PDP, described the former vice-president as “the man of today and tomorrow”, adding that he is Nigeria’s next president.

He said there is no victor and loser in the contest, and that it is the party that won.

Also, Atiku in his remarks, appreciated the NWC as well as stakeholders in the party for conducting a free and credible primary election.

He further called on all party members to ensure they put all hands on deck to drive the party to success in the forthcoming 2023 General elections.
