Former Edo State Deputy Governor, Mr. Lucky Imasuen has lost his bid for the Edo South Senatorial district ticket on the platform of the All Progressives Congress ( APC).

Imasuen, a former deputy governor between 2007 to 2008 under Prof. Oserhemien Osunbor lost to oil magnate, Mr. Valentine Asuen.

Asuen, erstwhile youth leader of the ruling party scored 215 out of the 379 delegates to defeat his opponent who polled 160 while four votes were voided.

It was jubilation galore by the supporters of the winner at the indoor sports hall of University of Benin, the venue of the primary when the final result was announced.

A furious Imasuen however left in anger shortly after the result was announced.

With the conclusion of the primary, the stage is now set for a contest either between House of Representatives member Dr. Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama or former Majority Leader of the Edo State House of Assembly, Mr. Mathew Iduoriyekenwen who emerged as winners of the parallel primaries of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) against the APC candidate in the 2023 elections.
