Gordon-Obuah1Gordon Obuah, the detained Chief Security Officer (CSO) to Nigeria’s former leader, Goodluck Jonathan, is “hale and hearty,” according to a source at Nigeria’s Department of Security Services (DSS). Gordon Obuah

Mr. Obuah has been in detention since last Thursday by the very agency he served for several years.

A DSS source told SaharaReporters that Mr. Obuah has not been maltreated as has been alleged by his lawyers and family members.

“He is answering questions relating to some corrupt practices and the loss of his service weapon while he was serving the former President, an offense that was covered up by the former DG,” the anonymous source stated.

Family members and lawyers to Mr. Obeah, who claim he is diabetic and hypertensive, had complained that they were denied access to him and that his health has deteriorated.

However, the SaharaReporters source at the agency stressed that Mr. Obuah has neither been sick nor admitted to a hospital at any time during his detention.  He said the former CSO’s ordeal will be over as soon as investigations are concluded.

Mr. Obuah is an Assistant Director at the DSS “by rank,” meaning he attained his rank without being appointed to it.  According to our source, he will soon be retired.

Meanwhile, the DSS is set to unveil a new spokesperson next week, following the removal of Marilyn Ogar, who served in that capacity until recently.  A source said a woman from Nigeria’s Southwest who has been appointed to the position is currently out of the country on training and will be returning next week.
