Displeased with the recent happenings in Kano State politics, the Deputy Speaker, House of Assembly, Zubairu Massu, has resigned his membership of the ruling All-Progressive Congress (APC).

In a letter addressed to the Party’s Ward Chairman, on Friday, the Deputy Speaker said he decided to dump the ruling party after wide consultations with his associates and supporters, lamenting that APC lacks internal democracy.

Massu, who is representing Sumaila Local Government Area said: “Following the recent happening in the party coupled with a series of consultations with my constituents, supporters, and stakeholders in Sumaila and Kano North in general, I write to notify you of my intention and decision to resign as a member of APC.”

Many believe that his resignation is not unconnected with Governor Abdullahi Ganduje’s recent announcement of his preferred successor. Recall that Ganduje had earlier anointed his deputy to succeed him, an action which didn’t go well with many.

Just three days ago, 3 members of the APC in the State dumped the party and more are expected to follow suit.

It will be recalled that Ganduje chose Gawuna as his favoured candidate who will be running under the APC for the upcoming gubernatorial election.

The decision was made on Sunday after a meeting by stakeholders of the ruling party which also selected the former commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Murtala Sule, as his running mate.
