The Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Godwin Emefiele seems not to be having a good time since he formally joined the presidential race under the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC) as his aspiration while heading the apex bank is being challenged in court.

Emefiele is being dragged to court by Professor Chidi Odinkalu and  Uzoezie Ikemefuna Ralph-Collins. They have approached the National Industrial Court to determine whether by the combined effect of the provisions of Sections 1(3) and 9 of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act 2007, the 1st Respondent (Emefiele) is statutorily mandated to devote the whole of his time to his employment with 2nd Respondent (CBN) and the Federal Republic of Nigeria and not engage in any full or part time employment or vocation which in the context includes participating in party primaries, congresses or other convention for the purposes of nomination of its candidates to the office of the President of Federal Republic of Nigeria or contesting for election for the position of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria scheduled for 25th February 2023, while in the employment of the CBN.

Earlier, a group bought the Normination and Expression of Interest Forms for the CBN governor to contest the presidential election, an act which has generated alot of reactions as many have been demanding for his removal.
