Farah Dagogo, the detained lawmaker representing Bonny-Degema federal constituency and Rivers state Peoples Democratic Party, PDP governorship aspirant has been rushed to an undisclosed hospital.

Ibrahim Lawal, Special Assistant to Dagogo on Media and Publicity said in a statement on Wednesday that the lawmaker who has been in custody of the police was rushed to hospital after complaining of stomach pains and chest congestion.

He added that Dagogo is currently receiving treatment.

Dagogo was arrested last week when he appeared for screening at Zonal Office of PDP in Port Harcourt in furtherance of his gubernatorial ambition.

His arrest followed directive to security operatives by Governor Nyesom Wike who had declared him wanted over allegation that he sponsored cultists to disrupt the screening of PDP aspirants in Rivers for the State and National Assembly positions.

Dagogo however denied the allegation. He claimed that the accusation was part of the plot by Wike to stop him from being screened for the Rivers gubernatorial contest through leveling of trumped up charges against him.

He accused Wike of using his Government House Camp Commandant Efeturi Irikefe, to arrest him and 15 others accusing them of being cultists.

Dagogo was subsequently arraigned before Chief Magistrate Amadi Nna in Port Harcourt.

But the Magistrate had noted that issues related to cultism cannot be adjudicated at the Magistrate Court and had consequently ordered the detention of Dagogo in police custody until May 9.

He has been detained at the State Investigation and Intelligence Department SCIID Port Harcourt.

Lawal had in a previous statement said the Dagogo is being hunted for not supporting the presidential ambition of Governor Nyesom Wike.

Dagogo had openly canvassed for support for the Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar as the 2023 candidate of PDP.
