A retired United States Army officer, Colonel Wisdom Osagiede has declared his intention to vie for the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 Presidential election.

Osagiede who spoke with journalists at the Nigeria Union of Journalists Press Centre, Benin vowed to tackle the Boko Haram terrorists within one year in office.

Col. Osagiede who served for 30 years in the US Army said that with his experience in the military, he is well prepared to take the battle to the heartland of Boko Haram in the North Eastern part of the country.

The retired army officer said that he will place emphasis on technology in form of drone strikes to degrade the Islamists, assuring that he will put an end to the activities of the terrorists in one year if he wins the ticket and end up becoming the president of the country.

Flanked by some members of the ruling party, he said that his motivation is love for the country, adding that he will use his connection as a dual citizen of America and Nigeria to better the lots of the ordinary Nigerian.

The presidential hopeful said: “There are scores of challenges which as a country, we are bound to face head on. As Nigeria turns to a new page, the country needs a man who has what it takes to get it back on the rails.

“I have these solutions, not because I am saying so by word of mouth, but because I have cultivated, watered and harvested them. For 30 years, I amassed a wealth of experience in administration and leadership within the US military.

“If I say today that I have a solution to Boko Haram, many will think it’s just one of those election campaign promises, but others who understand the might of the US military would give me the credence.”

Osagiede said that he will revamp the economy by placing emphasis on agriculture and solid minerals while also encouraging innovation from the universities and giving out of soft loans to students who are ready to break new grounds.
