Former Governor of Lagos State, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode has urged the youths to take over leadership positions in the country in 2023, noting that power is in their hands.
The Coalition of Southern and Middle Belt Youths under the auspices of the Coalition of Southern and Middle Belt Youth Leaders Assembly (COSMBYLA) had in November 2021 said only youthful persons should be elected President and governors in 2023.
In a statement, they said the youths can transform the bad economy of the country if elected into power in 2023.
The statement explained, “Electing youths who have distinguished themselves in their various fields of endeavours remains the panacea that will bring our dear country out of the woods.”
However, Ambode who wrote on his social media handles on Tuesday, encouraged the youths to go and get their Permanent Voters Card (PVC) ready.
The former governor stressed that the youth future is now!”
He also said God had been faithful despite all what Nigerians had been through and thanked them for the support given to him for his modest contribution to the growth of Lagos.
In his words: “After all we have been through, God has been faithful. Thank you for the overwhelming endorsement of our modest contributions to the of Lagos. It can only get better for Lagos, and indeed Nigeria.
“The youths are coming. The power is in their hands. Go and get your Permanent Voters Card (PVC) ready. Your future is NOW!”
Meanwhile, Ambode former boss and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, former presidential aspirant, former CBN Deputy Governor, Kingsley Moghalu, publisher of Oviation magazine, Dele Momodu, Ebonyi State governor, David Umahi and former Senate President, Pius Anyim, Sam Ohuabunwa and Khadijat Okunnu-Lamidi have all declared their interest to run for President in 2023.
