#JusticeforHanifa has begun to trend on social media following allegations that a 5-year-old pupil, Hanifa Abubakar was allegedly murdered by her teacher in Kano state.
On Thursday, report broke out about Hanifa who was abducted on December 2, 2021.
Abdulmalik Tanko, the school teacher of Hanifa was alleged to have conspired with some other persons to abduct the 5-year-old girl. The abductors contacted the relatives of the young pupil and demanded for a N6 million ransom.
The Kano State police command on Thursday confirmed that the remains of the five-year-old girl was discovered in a shallow grave at the school premises of Noble Kids Academy, in Nassarawa Local Government Area of the state.
Though the cause of the death remains sketchy as of press time, however, it was gathered that the 5-year-old girl was poisoned to death.
The police also confirmed the arrest of Tanko, who allegedly kidnapped and killed Hanifa.
Tanko was arrested alongside one Hashim Isyaku, who allegedly conspired to abduct their 5-year-old victim.
In a statement on Thursday, the police spokesperson in Kano, Abdullahi Kiyawa, the principal suspect confessed to have poisoned the girl when he realised that she had recognised him.
The statement reads, “Hashim also confessed that, sometimes in the month of November, 2021, the principal suspect, Abdulmalik met him and one Fatima Jibreel Musa, ‘f’, 27 years old, of Layin Falaki Tudun Murtala Quarters, Nassarawa LGA Kano State and ordered them to kidnap Hanifa. They planned but later rescinded their action. Fatima was also arrested.
“Mr Tanko allegedly conspired with one Hashim Isyaku, who has also been taken into custody, for the crime.
“The suspects led a combine Team of Operatives of DSS Kano State, Kano State Police Command’s Medical Team and Team of Operation Puff Adder to the scene. The body was exhumed and rushed to Mohammed Abdullahi Wase Specialist Hospital Kano, examined, confirmed dead by a Medical Doctor and released to the relatives for burial according to Islamic rites.”
Also, the Kano State Government has ordered the immediate closure of a private school, Noble Kids Academy.
The State Commissioner for Education, Muhammad Kiru, made this disclosure in a statement issued on Friday.
Kiru who expressed sadness over the incident, said apart from the closure of the school, the state government would commence investigation of unregistered private schools and teachers to check such criminal activities.
