Minister of Interior and a former Governor of Osun state, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has publicly reacted to his rift with his successor, Governor Adegboyega Oyetola.
Aregbesola declared that he is fully behind one of the factional caucuses of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state otherwise identified as the Osun Progressives (TOP).
The former governor said this while addressing his supporters at the commissioning of Digital Nigeria Centre in Ilesa, Osun State.
Speaking further, Aregbesola said the only chairman of the party recognised by him is Honourable Rasaki Salinsile.
Recall that the Osun state chapter of APC has been hit by internal crisis which generated into the party breaking to two factions.
During the APC state congresses which held across the country in October 2021, Osun state recorded parallel congresses.
The faction loyal to Oyetola held its own congresses where Mr Gboyega Famodun was re-elected as the state Chairman of the party.
In the parallel congresses organised by the other faction loyal to Aregbesola, Salinsile emerged as the new Chairman of the party.
Meanwhile, the minister has now come out openly to declare where his loyalty lies.
In his words, “For those in doubt, Osun APC is divided. I belong to TOP, the group established to correct the wrong within the APC. I greet the Chairman of APC, Honourable Rasaki Salinsile, the Chairman of my own APC in Osun.
“I am happy that the Commissioner of Police is here. There are a lot of lies that are flying around, I steered the affairs of this state for 8 years when I was there, you can check your record, there was no trouble, we do the job with the whole of our body to record the feat for 8 years. I use to sleep for 2 to 3 hours every day. I did not only do the job with my heart but my whole body.”
