The Executive Vice Chairman of Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) Professor Umar Garba Danbatta has said the Commission is prepared to leverage on its 8-Point Agenda to ensure Availability, Accessibility and Affordability of services to every citizen as the telecommunications regulator in the country.

Danbatta stated this at the ongoing Digital Africa Conference and Exhibition taking place at the Yar’Adua Centre Abuja. “The NCC has committed resources and efforts towards deployment of services across the country to increase broadband penetration through licensing of infrastructure service providers to ensure we meet and surpass the 30 percent broadband penetration target set for 2018,” Danbatta said

The NCC boss told the audience indicating NCC’s readiness to deploy its regulatory authority as the organising principle to consolidate the gains in the sector. He noted the challenges of telecom service provision in Nigeria and recalled efforts being made to address them, particularly strategic engagement with all stakeholders to forge the necessary collaboration and alliances that will ensure improved quality of consumer experience.

The event was attended by the Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo SAN, who was represented by Minister for Communications, Honourable Adebayo Shittu. All stakeholders in the ICT sector also participated at the event slated to end on June 8, 2017.

The forumwhich is in its fifth edition, is Africa’s premier consumer technology show, organised annually by Digital Africa Global Consult Limited to enable operators in the ICT ecosystem to showcase their brands and enhance their reputation.
