Some armed bandits-cum-terrorists have murdered a member of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Hon. Rilwanu Gadagau.

The bandits were said to have attacked the lawmaker on Monday night while he was travelling along Kaduna-Zaria Highway.

According to sources, the lawmaker, alongside scores of others were abducted on Monday. The bandits were said to have murdered Gadagau on their way to their hideout in the forest.

Confirming his death, the Speaker of the State House Assembly, Yusuf Zailani said Gadagau was murdered by bandits.

The Speaker who made the disclosure in a statement signed by his Special Assistant, Media and Publicity, Ibrahim Danfulan, said the remains of the late lawmaker was recovered on Wednesday near Mawai, a village just about 13 kilometres from the Kaduna State capital.

Zailani, in the statement described the death of his colleague as devastating, praying to God to grant his family and friends the fortitude to bear the loss.

“This is tragic and painful. We are in deep grief over this sad incident,” the speaker said in the statement.

“Our prayers at this time, goes to his immediate family. Honourable Gadagau was a young and dynamic lawmaker, who had a passion for his constituency, state and Nigeria. We will miss his vibrant contributions,” he added.

Until his death, Gadagau represented Giwa west constituency in the Assembly and was the chairman of house committee on local government and chieftaincy affairs. He was the vice Chairman in Giwa local government before his election into the House of Assembly in 2019.
