Still basking in the euphoria of the second anniversary celebration of the present administration, the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has urged Urhobo youths and, indeed, youths from the entire state to key into the SMART agenda of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa in order to benefit from the government’s programmes, which, according to him are youths-friendly.
Oborevwori made this call when a group of youths from the Delta Central Senatorial District under the aegis of Core Delta Central Youths paid him courtesy visit in Asaba recently. He noted that the Okowa administration is youth-friendly, adding that the government was working assiduously to ensure that the youths of the state were empowered through its numerous programmes.
Earlier, the leader of the group, Comrade Believe German disclosed that they were on a solidarity visit to Hon. Oborevwori on his recent emergence as the Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, assuring him that they will continue to support his leadership.
Said he: “we have come to commend your colleagues for taking a bold step in electing you as the Speaker; we have come to rejoice with you Mr. Speaker. As an experienced grassroots politician, we have come to tell Deltans that your emergence as Speaker is accepted and supported by the youths of your senatorial district.”
The Speaker thanked the youths for their show of support and solidarity since he emerged as the Speaker of the House, assuring them that he was going to work with, not only the youths from Delta Central, but the entire state.
He however reiterated that his primary duty was to make laws for the good governance of the state in synergy with the executive arm of government in the overall interest of Deltans, noting that he will ensure that the House of Assembly makes good laws that will uplift the welfare and security of the people of the state.
The leader of the group Comrade German used the occasion to inform the Speaker that they were committed in prayer to his success, urging him to remain calm and focus, as there was no cause for alarm.
