The voter’s capturing machine known as Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) deployed at the polling unit of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the Anambra 2021 governorship election, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo has failed to work, leading to an uneasy calm among many of Soludo’s kinsmen in the area.

The Polling Unit/Ward, PU 002, Ward 13, Isuofia, Aguata LGA, that has over 200 people has not been able to accredit anybody since 7am, hence voting was yet to commence as of the time of this reporting.

Also, APGA’s candidate, Soludo who is currently at the polling unit has not been able to cast his ballot.

Earlier, there were worries that no security operative was deployed to the center.

Some of the BVAS machines deployed for the Anambra State election have been declared faulty in spite of their edge over other technological innovations used in electoral processes.

The BVAS is a system that combines fingerprint and face biometrics for identity verification of voters.

As explained by the top official, the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System integrates the three-stage voting process.

It is an integrated device that is multi-functional in nature, which serves as Voter Enrolment Device (IVED) during voter registration, voter accreditation on Election Day and also functions as INEC Results Viewing Device (IReV Device) to be used for election results upload on Election Day.
