Nigerian socialite and businessman, Obinna Iyiegbu, (a.k.a Obi Cubana), has been freed from the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) nearly 24 hours after his arrest in Abuja on Monday.
The development was confirmed on Tuesday by Instigator PH, an associate of the popular socialite.
“Thank u Jesus!! @obi_cubana is free. We gat Jesus!!! Dis Dance is for all my fans. I love u all,” Instigator PH posted on his Instagram page.
On his part, Obi Cubana who took to his official Instagram page said, “Okpataozueora! I love you ALL!”
The New Diplomat had reported that Obi Cubana was interrogated by operatives of the EFCC over allegations of money laundering and tax fraud on Monday. He spent a night in the custody of the anti-graft agency and had remained there until Tuesday when he was freed.
Since the news of his arrest broke out, the EFCC had been conspicuously silent. The anti-graft agency is yet to issue an official statement on why the popular socialite was interrogated.
