Governor of Cross River State, Ben Ayade has presented a total sum of N276bn as budget estimates for 2022 to the State House of Assembly.
Governor Ayade stated in the “Budget of Conjugated Agglutination” that N170 billion is for Capital Expenditure and N106 billion is for Recurrent Expenditure.
Ayade, while presenting the budget, Friday, explained that the title of the budget is conjugated agglutination because “it’s a series of projects that are being completed one after the other. Putting everything together to produce a new envelope, which will erupt and reveal a new prosperity agenda.”
According to the governor, the budget, which differs significantly from the previous year’s budget concentrates on the completion of current projects such as the Obudu Cargo and Passengers International Airport, Obudu British/Canadian International School, and the Odukpani junction flyover, among others.
Governor Ayade further stated that the 2022 budget aims to sustain his administration’s policy of regular payment of salaries.
Ayade also announced provision in the budget to set aside between N30 to N50 million monthly for the payment of gratuity for retired civil servants in the state.
Governor Ayade said the Appropriation Bill will consider projects aimed at generating immediate income for the state and impact directly on the people.
