Some operatives of the Nigerian Police Force(NPF), Osun state have dispersed #EndSARS Memorial Protesters who took to the streets to commemorate the first anniversary of the nationwide demonstration against police brutality in the country in October, 2020.

The protesters who converged at Ita Olokan Area of Osun state went through Station Road before heading to Freedom Park. They displayed several placards and banners as well as chanted anti-government songs.

However, some Policemen who stormed the Freedom Park in about eight vans dispersed the aggrieved youths.

It was also gathered that a journalist who was at the venue was arrested. The journalist who was identified as Sikiru Obarayese, is a correspondent of the Daily Post in Osogbo.

The journalist, alongside scores of others were arrested by the police and whisked away from the venue.

This is coming after a journalist was arrested in Lagos with another harrassed.

Earlier, The New Diplomat had reported that a journalist working with Arise TV, Adefemi Akinsanya said that she was harrassed by policemen, while trying to do her job.

She also said police aimed at drones that were being used by her team to cover the protest around the Lekki toll gate. “We were harassed by the police this morning, the security services were not happy that we had drones flying. One of the security men pushed me just for having drones up here. We’re journalist and we’re being harassed for covering the situation.”
