Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has defended Bruno Fernandes taking the penalty against Aston Villa as he revealed that “the decision was taken before the game”.

The Red Devils’ unbeaten start to the season this season ended on Saturday, thanks to a 1-0 loss to the Midlands club at Old Trafford.

Kortney Hause headed for a corner before giving a late penalty, as referee Mike Dean penalized him for handball.

However, with Cristiano Ronaldo still on the pitch, Fernandes took responsibility and sent the ball into the stands.

When asked if Fernandes was the first choice to take the kick, Solskjaer told Sky Sports: “Yes. The decision was made before the game.

The result leaves United in fourth place with 13 points.
