The much anticipated Isoko South Constituency 1 bye-election has kickstarted as political parties battle to secure victory at the polls in Delta.

A total of 14 political parties are contesting in the bye-election including the two major political parties in the state, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Electorate of Isoko South Constituency 1 located in Isoko south Local Government Council Area of Delta state have continued to storm their respective polling units to vote for their preferred candidate and party.

Recall that the seat became vacant following the death of the member representing the area, Mr. Kenneth Ogba in July. Ogba was elected on the platform of the PDP.

During campaign, Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege leading the campaign train urged the electorate to vote for APC, adding that that is the only way the constituency could be aligned with the centre.

Similarly, Delta Governor Ifeanyi Okowa urged the Isoko South Constituency l electorate to vote the PDP in order to ensure continuity of development of the area.

Meanwhile, voting is ongoing as of press time and the winner of the election is expected to be announced in due course.
