The Lagos State House of Assembly on Thursday passed the Prohibition of Open Cattle Grazing Bill.

It also passed the Value Added Tax (VAT) bill.

The bills were read for the third time at plenary on Thursday’s sitting and were passed following a unanimous vote by the lawmakers.

The Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa also directed the acting Clerk, Olalekan Onafeko, to transmit a clean copy to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for assent.

Speaking on the development, the Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa commended his colleagues for making history by passing the two bills.

The speaker also noted that the anti-open grazing bill when assented would ensure harmonious relationships between herders and farmers and protect the environment of the state.

Obasa further added that the bill on VAT would lead to increase in revenue and increase in infrastructural development. According to him, the VAT law when assented would help the state meet challenges in its various sectors.
