Super Eagles striker, Kelechi Iheanacho, scored a first-half brace to hand Nigeria a 2-0 victory in their Group C 2022 World Cup qualifier against Liberia at the Teslim Balogun Stadium.

Nigeria who started the game brightly went ahead in the 24th minute through Iheanacho after a clever play from midfielder Alex Iwobi from the right flank.

The Eagles continued to pile pressure on their opponent as they searched for their second.

On the stroke of halftime, the Liberians failed to clear their lines with Iwobi flicking a header to Iheanacho who showed good footwork to slot the ball past the goalkeeper.

At that point the second half was a mere formality as the Liberians were unable to respond to the damage done by the Eagles in the first half of the game.

The win put the Super Eagles top of Group C, and ahead of the duo of Cape Verde and Central Africa Republic who played out to a 1-1 draw on Wednesday.
