Friends of the Earth Africa (FoEA) is set to release a landmark report on Renewable Energy Plan for Africa.

The report which is titled ‘A Just Recovery Renewable Energy Plan for Africa’ will be released on Wednesday, 1 September 2021 on the official website of the FoEA.

This was contained in a statement issued by Communications Coordinator, FoEA, Ekue Assem and made available to The New Diplomat.

The report by FoEA will look at the reality of renewable energy options in Africa and is based on the research and modelling of renowned academic and renewable expert, Dr. Sven Teske which shows that it is feasible to achieve a 100% renewable energy goal for Africa by the year 2050.

The report which noted that Africa is the hardest-hit continent by the effect of climate change has provided a thorough analysis on ways to mitigate the impact of climate change on vulnerable people in the continent.

The report will also disclose a recovery plan aimed at addressing the triple crises of climate change, energy poverty in Africa and need for COVID recovery together.

The report also stress on the need to achieving 100% renewable energy in Africa, describing it as the only way to prevent a climate catastrophe and unlock immeasurable employment opportunities in equipment manufacture, operation and technical support for the sector.
