There are media reports that the Army Major who was abducted from the Nigerian Defence Academy, (NDA) by bandits is allegedly dead.

Major Christopher Datong was kidnapped during the raid on Nigeria’s foremost military varsity by armed bandits, early Tuesday in a shocking breach of security at one of Nigeria’s safest havens amid reports that the duty officer manning the CCTV camera in the institution slept off while on duty as the terrorists infiltrated the supposed military fortress.

The NDA has not issued a statement to confirm or deny the death of Major Datong as of press time.

Earlier, The New Diplomat had reported that the entire surrounding of the Nigeria Defence Academy (NDA) has been cordoned off by a combination of irate military and para-military personnel armed to the teeth as they launched manhunt for the bandits with a bid to rescue the kidnapped officers of the institution.

This is sequel to the suspicion that the heartless bandits have not been able to escape from the area.

The NDA Public Relations Officer, Major Bashir Jajira who confirmed the attack on the institute had said two officers were killed and one was abducted during the attack.

Jajira in a press statement said, “the security architecture of the Nigerian Defence Academy was compromised early this morning by unknown gunmen who gained access into the residential area within the Academy in Afaka. During the unfortunate incident, we lost two personnel and one was abducted.”
