The Zone 5 of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) in Benin, Edo State has declared two sons of the immediate Olu of Warri, Ogiame Ikenwoli Emiko, Princes Onyowoli and Omatsuli, wanted over their alleged connection with the missing royal crown of the Itsekiri kingdom.

The zone 5 command, in a report disclosed that the two princes allegedly broke into the private apartment of the Olu of Warri where the crown, among other valuables were carted away.

Also, a Federal High Court in Benin City, Edo State has also issued an arrest warrant against the two princes in order to facilitate the investigation on the allegations.

This is coming ahead of Saturday’s coronation of Prince Tsola Emiko, son of Olu Atuwatse as Olu of Warri.

According to reports, the order to declare the two princes wanted was issued by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Zone 5, Benin on the orders of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Baba Alkali.

Further information obtained indicated that Prince Oyowoli Emiko is said to be wanted “for the offence of breaking into the secret apartment of the HRM Olu of Warri and stealing the Royal Crown”. He is said to be “a student, Itsekiri by tribe, Aged 30 years, 5.2ft of height”, among other physical identities.

Similarly, his younger brother, 27-year old Oamtsuli Emiko, 5.6ft in height and also a student, is wanted for the same offence of breaking into the palace and stealing.

The AIG Zone 5 and some officers at the zonal headquarters last Friday had grilled the suspended traditional Prime Minister of the Warri Kingdom, Chief Ayiri Emami, over the invasion of the palace of the Olu of Warri and alleged theft of the ancient crown.

The immediate Olu of Warri, Ogiame Ikenwoli, joined his ancestors in December 2020.
