A former Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Ibrahim Nasiru Mantu has reportedly passed on at the age of 74.

The former Plateau Central Senator was reported dead in the early hours of Tuesday, August 17, 2021.

Mantu was born on Februay 16, 1947 in the present Plateau state, North-Central Nigeria.

He was elected Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria representing, Plateau Central Senatorial District between 1999-2007 under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.

While in the Senate he served as Chairman Senate, Independent Consolidation Committee on Cushioning Measures, ICCCM, 2005; Chairman defunct National Assembly Joint Committee on the Review of the 1999 Constitution, 2006.

Members of his immediate family were yet to officially comment on his death as of the time of this reporting.
