The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has disclosed the reason he embarked on a snap visit to one of the national leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in London, United Kingdom (UK).

Sanwo-Olu, who addressed a press conference at the Lagos House on Wednesday stated that he went to see the two-time Governor of Lagos State to ‘dispel’ rumours that Tinubu was sick and hospitalised.

Photographs of Tinubu hosting Sanwo-Olu in London had surfaced online, earlier on Tuesday.

Commenting on the photographs, the Governor said Tinubu was hale and hearty.

Reports had emerged last week claiming that Tinubu was down with an undisclosed illness and had undergone a major surgical procedure abroad.

However, Sanwo-Olu who addressed newsmen after his visit to London, stated that he purposely took pictures with Tinubu to put the “minds of people at rest,” describing the reports as false and fictitious.

Speaking further, the governor added that they both “discussed happenings in APC, national issues and other matters” during the visit.

This was also made available in a press statement issued by Sanwo-olu’s chief press secretary, Gboyega Akosile.

Akosile quoted Sanwo-Olu as saying, “Yes, indeed, I am the one you saw in the picture that I took when I visited our leader in London just to dispel all of the rumours that were flying around that he was sick and hospitalised.

“You saw him (Tinubu). He is well, he is healthy and we conversed. We talked about what is happening in our party, what is happening in the nation and just to say to him that all is well.

“I went to see things for myself. It is just to put the mind and heart of people to rest that there is nothing for us to worry about.

“A man has discretion as to decide when to go out of the country and when to return. It is his call. Is he coming here to do Governor’s work? Can’t you see the picture we took together? A picture doesn’t lie.”
