Just In! Court Restrains DSS, Malami From Arresting Igboho

Federal High Court, Ibadan, Oyo State has granted an application restraining the Department of State Services (DSS) and the office of the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) from arresting and intimidating popular Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, otherwise known as Sunday Igboho.

The court also stopped the DSS from freezing or blocking bank accounts belonging to the activist, who is now being detained in Cotonou by the Beninoise government following his recent arrest in the West African nation.

The lawyer of Igboho, Chief Yomi Aliu, (SAN) had filed an application before the high Court, seeking the payment of N500 billion damages to Igboho over the invasion of the activist’s residence on July 1.

Justice Ladiean Akintola of Oyo High Court, during the hearing on the matter, Wednesday, granted the ex-parte motion filed by Igboho.

Aliu, in his reaction expressed confidence the AGF and Minister of Justice, Mr Abubakar Malami (SAN) will not disobey the court order, stressing that it was given directly against his office.

Hearing in the suit was adjourned to August 18.
