Senator representing Delta North Senatorial District and Chairman, Senate committee on Niger Delta Affairs, Peter Nwaoboshi has commended the peaceful conduct of All Progressives Congress (APC) ward congress in Delta State and all over the nation.

Nwaoboshi said that the successes recorded at the rancour-free ward Congress was an indication of APC coasting home to victory in 2023. The Lawmaker lauded the massive turnout by members, commending their resilience and unquantifiable commitment.

“Success of the congress today is dedicated to the doggedness of members of the party. The resilience and commitment is unquantifiable. The turnout is massive and all encompassing. It was a huge success across Delta State,” he said.

Nwaoboshi, the Chairman, Senate Committee on Niger Delta Affairs, hailed the peaceful conduct of the APC ward congress in the state especially in his own ward 5 and local government Area, Oshimili North.

Nwaoboshi commended the high political maturity displayed by APC party members in his own town Ibusa, saying it accounted for the peaceful atmosphere in the conduct of the party’s ward congresses.

He said that the massive turnout of party members to exercise their civic responsibility, confirmed that APC was on the right track to dislodge the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State in 2023.

“Today, the congress has produced a new set of executives across the State. The exercise was “No Victor, No Vanquished”.

“We have shamed our critics, going by the peaceful conduct of the ward congresses. It is a natural rule that in every contest, there must be a winner.”

The Senator said the APC National Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) has set up a Congress Appeal Committee to consider complaints from members, and ensure that equity, fairness and justice prevail.

Another APC chieftain from Ibusa, Chief Austin Izagbo described the exercise as peaceful, urging the party to build on the success in subsequent congresses.

Izagbo, who spoke with reporters shortly after participating in the ward congress along with other party members, expressed delight at the turnout of members.

In the same vein, Chief Nelson Agbamuche of Ward 1 in Akwukwu-Igbo, the local Government Headquarter of Oshimili North said that the congress was peaceful, adding that the massive turnout was an indication that APC has come to stay in Delta State.

“In this regard, He appeal to all the contestants across the Wards to maintain the love and interest of our great party within their hearts after the exercise,” he said.

Agbamuche said that the outcome of the congress would to a large extent determine the unity of the party at the ward, state and national levels. He urged party members who feel aggrieved or unsatisfied with the conduct of the ward congresses to remain calm and refrain from self-help.

Also, Hon. Louis Ndukwe, the immediate past Chairman of Oshimili North Local Government Area, commended the peaceful conduct of the APC Ward Congresses in Ukala.

Ndukwe said the congresses were very successful. God is awesome. The exercise was very successful, peaceful, and orderly everywhere across the country. INEC officials, Police, and DSS were at every point to monitor what we are doing.

“I am happy to tell you that the reports across the country indicated the congress was successful and peaceful.”
“Our party is guided by a tested constitution with provisions for addressing grievances. Complaints emanating from the exercise, if any, will be resolved justly and amicably,” he said.
