A Federal High Court, in Akwa, Anambra State has affirmed the candidacy of former Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Prof. Chukwuma Soludo as the authentic torchbearer of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the upcoming November 6 Governorship election.

Justice Charles Okay of Awka High Court, in his judgment on Monday declared Soludo as the authentic candidate of APGA. He has been previously delisted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Recall that The New Diplomat had reported that the INEC failed to recognise former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria(CBN), as the flagbearer of APGA in its list of candidates for the Anambra governorship election scheduled to hold on November 6.

Two APGA factions conducted parallel governorship primary elections, producing separate candidates.

While the Victor Oye-led faction conducted the primary which produced Soludo, the Jude Okeke-led faction conducted the primary where a member of the House of Representatives, Chukwuma Umeoji emerged as the candidate.
