  • As Ex-Gov Accuses Uzodinma of Blackmail

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has debunked trending reports, claiming that Senator Rochas Okorocha, who represents Imo West Senatorial District at the Senate has been suspended by the party.

The APC said one document which went viral on social media purporting that the ex-Governor of Imo has been suspended by the party’s national body was fake.

The party said the letter was the “handiwork of mischievous elements”, while slamming the claim in a statement by Senator John James Akpanudoedehe,
National Secretary, Caretaker & Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee of APC, late Sunday.

The statement by APC reads: “It has come to the attention of the National headquarters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) that a fake letter of a purported suspension of Distinguished Senator Rochas Okorocha from the party is circulating in the public space.

“I wish to categorically state that the APC has not issued such a letter and it is definitely the handiwork of mischievous elements who are jealous and unhappy that the party is waxing stronger as the leading political party in the country. It will not be distracted from its focus on the development of our country and enhancing the wellbeing of the citizenry.

“For the avoidance of any iota of doubt, Senator Rochas Okorocha is a full and active member of the party who contributed to its growth and progress and a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria who was elected on the platform of the party.

“It is pertinent to call on those wishing to cause any misgivings in the APC to desist from their ill-intentioned circulation of fake Information because it is an exercise in futility.”

Meanwhile, Okorocha, who has reacted to the news of his purported defection to the Peoples Democratic Party, accused Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma of blackmailing him with the reports of him dumping the APC.

Okoracha, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Sam Onwuemedo said: “Governor Hope Uzodinma can not and will not blackmail Senator Rochas Okorocha out of the All Progressives Congress, APC. Governor Uzodinma was behind the fake story of Senator Rochas Okorocha leaving the APC for the PDP, last Monday.

“He had come up with the fake story of Okorocha leaving APC because the National Secretariat of the Party had set up a reconciliation committee.
