A section of the Synagogue Church of All Nations, (SCOAN) located in the Ikotun area of Lagos State was gutted by fire in the late hours of Monday, raising tension among church members and residents in the area.

The New Diplomat gathered that the inferno occurred during the candlelight procession organised in honour of the church’s founder, Prophet Temitope Joshua, popularly known as T.B Joshua.

The fire reportedly erupted in a section inside the church premises at about 11 pm.

Also, according to eye witness account, the fire erupted from the store house of the building, which is some metres away from the church’s main auditorium.

The fire has been contained as the officials of the Lagos State Fire Service arrived the venue at about 12:15 am on Tuesday and put out the fire.

Though cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained, however, an electrical spark was said to have caused the fire.

Recall that Joshua, a popular televangelist had passed away on June 5. The popular cleric was discovered unconscious after he retired into his private apartment amid the church’s service.

A 7-day funeral rites organised to honour the late televangelist started on Monday with a candlelight procession.

Other activities lined up for the ceremony include a tribute service on July 6 and 7, lying-in-state on July 8, laying to rest and internment on July 9, and a thanksgiving service on July 11.
