Switzerland have beaten World Champions France on penalty shootout in the Last 16 tie of Euro 2020 after Kylian Mbappe missed his penalty to send Switzerland through to the quarterfinals after a thrilling and pulsating 3-3 draw.

Mario Gavranovic, Fabian Schaer, Manuel Akanji, Ruben Vargas and Admir Mehmedi all scored their penalties to give the Swiss, considered to be underdog in the tie, a perfect score from their five kicks.

For the French, Paul Pogba, Olivier Giroud, Marcus Thuram and Presnel Kimpembe all scored but Mbappe’s penalty was saved by the excellent Goalkeeper Yann Sommer to send the Swiss through.
