Some unidentified hoodlums have one again attacked two offices of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Ebonyi State.

The hoodlums set the buildings on fire, leading to damage of several properties and equipment inside the buildings.

The electoral body took to its official Twitter handle on Wednesday to disclosed the recent attack on its facilities.

According to INEC, the hoodlums in the late hours of Tuesday stormed its faclities located in Ebonyi and Ezza North Local Government Areas (LGA) of the state.

The electoral body however, confirm that no casualty was recorded during the attack which took place on Tuesday.

“Last night, Tuesday 18th May 2021, two INEC offices in Ebonyi and Ezza North Local Government Areas of Ebonyi State were burnt down by unidentified persons,” the electoral body tweeted.

INEC has been witnessing a disturbing trend of attacks on its facliities in recent weeks, with many worried about the development as the next general election is fast approaching.

These attacks are also coming ahead of the resumption of the Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) exercise scheduled for June 28, across the country.

The New Diplomat had reported that some hoodlums attacked an INEC facliity in Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State.

The building was completely destroyed with electoral materials and other office equipment.

Similarly, some hoodlums had razed down an INEC facility in Essien Udim Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
