  • Claims Military Responsible For Invasion

The self-acclaimed O’odua Activist, Mr Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Igboho has said some unidentified armed men invaded his residence in Ibadan, Oyo State capital, Monday.

Igboho, who reacted through his spokesman, Mr Olayomi Koiki, alleged that the invasion was by the men of the Nigerian Army.

Koiki, who hosted a live Facebook broadcast at the garage of his principal’s residence, claimed that the Federal Government is using the military to harass Igboho.

According to Koiki, soldiers invaded the residence at around 2 am Monday morning but the personal security aides of his principal repelled the attack.

During the live video broadcast, gunshots were heard in the background where Koiki was speaking.

In his words, “We are more than capable of securing ourselves, we have chased them far from here,” Mr Koiki said in the video. “I am sure you can hear gunshots. That is them shooting from afar, we cannot be intimidated because we are fully prepared and ready for them.

“By tomorrow morning, I am sure the government would come with false press statements, that it was a set of unknown soldiers, that was the same tactic they used to attack Fela’s mother. They equally used it during #EndSARS.

“They brought us a letter sometimes ago but we rejected them because the letter was what they used to kill Dele Giwa. We have chosen to be peaceful only for them to keep looking for our trouble which we won’t hesitate to give to them.”

Igboho has been in the news since January, when he issued a seven-day ultimatum eviction notice to the Fulani herders in Ibarapa Area of Oyo State for allegedly orchestrating criminal activities in the area.

He subsequently led a group of men to Igangan in the Ibarapa axis of Oyo state to evict the Fulani Herders in the area following the expiration of the ultimatum.

Recall also that a joint team of the Nigerian Police Force and the Department of State Services had attempted to arrest the Yoruba activist at the Lagos-Ibadan expressway while on his way to meet the new national leader of the pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, in Lagos. However, the attempt was foiled by his teeming supporters.

Similarly, Igboho had also captured two suspected soldiers who were allegedly spying on him. Two men who were seen in military camouflage were paraded by Igboho for allegedly spying on him.

However, the Nigeria Defence Headquarters had denied the allegations, stating that the military cannot stoop low to the extent of spying on Igboho.

Recall also that Igboho through his Spokesman had raised alarm that he received a letter from the immediate past Inspector-General of Police(IGP), Mohammed Adamu.

Koiki claimed that the DHL Courier Services brought a letter from Adamu, adding that hours later a team of police officers numbering up to 15 stormed the residence to deliver another letter from the IGP.

He, however, noted that both letters were rejected due to security reasons. According to Koiki, such letter had led to the death of a revered Nigerian Journalist, Mr. Dele Giwa.
