Manchester City defeated Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup final at the Wembley Stadium, to clinch their fourth Carabao Cup in a row.

Tottenham lost the opportunity to win their first major trophy since 2008.

Tottenham were very much in the game until the 82nd minute when Man City broke the deadlock through Laporte, who headed in Kevin de Bruyne’s free kick.

Man City has now matched the record of winning the competition for four consecutive seasons set by Liverpool between 1981 to 1984. Tottenham, on the other hand see their 13-year trophy drought continue. Their last silverware came in 2008.

However, the trophy lifting wasn’t celebrated the usual way due the COVID-19 pandemic, as Man City players picked their medals themselves from a table before making way to a decorated podium where captain Fernandinho lifted the trophy.
