Unidentified gunmen have abducted an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Mr. Ebenezer Busuyi, in Ekiti State.

It was gathered that Busuyi, who is the Supervisor for Agriculture in Ekiti West Local Government Council, was abducted in the late hours of Thursday while travelling in his car on Ilawe-Erinjiyan route.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRo) Ekiti State Command, Sunday Abutu, has also confirmed the incident.

Abutu, however, assured that a team of Police, Amotekun Corps and Local hunters were in search of the APC chieftain.

He also appealed to the residents of the area not to panic, adding that the police is committed to ensuring there is peace in every part of the state.

His words, “As I speak with you, our men and officers in partnership with the Amotekun Corps and local hunters are already in the bush searching for the victim.

“We won’t fold our arms and allow criminal gangs to hold Ekiti by the jugular. We are determined to redouble our efforts to make Ekiti safe from kidnappers.

“But we want our people to be security-conscious. Let them report strange faces to the nearest police station for prompt action. This is the time for all of us to be watchful,” he said.

The latest kidnap is coming barely a week after His Royal Majesty (HRM), Obama David Oyewumi, the Obama of Ilemeso in Oye Local Government Area of Ekiti State was abducted by unknown gunmen.

The abductors of the monarch demanded N20 million ransom.

However, the monarch regained freedom on Wednesday.

Speaking on the release, the Commander of Ekiti Amotekun Corps, Joe Komolafe, said a joint team of security agencies in the state rescued the monarch without paying any ransom.

He also disclosed that the remains of the dead students have been evacuated to a mortuary.

Aruwan who described the act of the bandits as mindless evil and sheer wickedness said the bodies had been evacuated to the mortuary.

According to the statement, Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State condemned the attack and urged the support of the residents in identifying the bandits.
