Unidentified gunmen suspected to be kidnappers, on Wednesday attacked commuters on Igboora-Eruwa Road in Ibarapa area of Oyo State.
According to reports, 18 passengers of a commercial bus coming from Abeokuta, Ogun State and heading for Eruwa in Oyo State were abducted.
There has been no official confirmation of the incident.
Ibarapa has been in the news following the quit notice given to Fulani herders of the area by the O’odua activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho.
Igboho had given Fulani herders in Ibarapa a seven-day ultimatum to vacate the area over alleged involvement in killings, maiming, kidnappings, among other criminal activities.
Igboho stormed the area at the expiration of his ultimatum. This later generated into heated ethnic crisis between Yoruba and Fulani residents of the area.
