Scores of government properties have been destroyed in a fire that broke out in the Katsina State House of Assembly in the early hours of Wednesday.

According to reports, the fire broke out behind the Speaker’s seat, before spreading to other sections.

Many sensitive documents were also destroyed.

However, men of the state fire service stations later brought the fire under control.

The Deputy Chief Whip of the House, Salisu Rimaye, representin Kankia Constituency who confirmed the incident, said the cause of the fire was still uncertain.

Katsina State Assembly has now joined the long list of places consumed by fire in Katsina State.

In March, the Katsina Central Market was razed by fire with over 100 shops destroyed and properties worth billions of naira lost.
