Nigerian award winning writer, Chimamanda Adichie has shared her regrets about not becoming an American citizen when the opportunity presented itself.

Chimamanda speaking in a recent interview with newsmen on Radio disclosed that Nigeria frustrates her and now she regrets not becoming a US citizen.

In her words:”I’m Nigerian but Nigeria deeply frustrates her. I came to the immediate realization that I don’t have to be a dutiful daughter or citizen despite wanting to share in the average experience of an average Nigerian. I made the choice of not being a US citizen which I deeply regret.”

Meanwhile, the renowned writer also revealed why she stopped attending Catholic churches in Nigeria.

The 43-year-old writer explained that she does not attend Catholic churches in Nigeria because activities became “way too much” about money, fundraising, and thanksgiving.

She noted that she considers herself a Catholic, but she is truly agnostic and questioning.
