The posters of former Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, were seen on the streets of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, Tuesday.

The posters, with inscription, “Reset Nigeria 2023”, “vote Saraki for president”, among others were sighted at different locations, as passer-by were seen discussing about the development.

A picture of Saraki with the logo and signature colours of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), were also inscribed on the poster.

Reacting, Saraki, through his media aide, Yusuph Olaniyonu, denied responsibility for the campaign posters that flooded the streets of Abuja.

According to Olaniyonu, the former Senate President has not informed anyone about his interest in the presidency, adding that he neither printed the posters nor assigned anyone to do so on his behalf.

The 2023 general elections is still far ahead, however, speculations about the presidential aspirants have been flying around.

Recently, campaign posters of Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State were seen in some parts of Abuja. The development had also attracted the attention of Wike who denied the posters, stating that it is the work of mischief makers.

Similarly, the campaign posters of Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State were also seen in Dutse, Capital of Jigawa State.

It would be recalled also that Saraki contested for the Presidential primaries of the PDP which held on October 5, 2018, ahead of the 2019 presidential election.

He lost the primary to Atiku Abubakar, who became the flagbearer of the party. Saraki came third with 317 votes behind Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal.

However, ahead of the 2023 general elections, the poster gimmick has been described as part of the optics by political gladiators to test their popularity among members of the Nigerian public.
