As Lagos joins the rest of the World to celebrate Year 2017 World Water Day, the Executive Secretary, Lagos State Water Regulatory Commission, Arc. Ahmed Abdullahi Kabiru has called on Lagosians and all residents to cultivate the habit of drinking clean water.

The Executive Secretary, who made the call at a Two-Day Symposium organized by the Commission to mark the Y2017 Water Day with the theme: “WasteWater”, said the event is part of the present administration’s efforts to draw more attention to water-related issues, its benefits when put to good use and adverse effect if mismanaged.

He stated that the essence of the Symposium was to draw attention to issues pertaining to wastewater management and provide a platform for stakeholders to assess the reforms of the State Government in relation to the newly signed Lagos Environmental Law which partly includes the harmonized Water Sector Law.

While noting that the State Government has commissioned various water projects across the metropolis, especially in Surulere, Yaba and Itire among others, Arc. Kabiru reiterated that more are still under construction in order to provide portable water for the citizenry.

He, however, implored individuals and organisations to support government efforts by investing in the production and distribution of consumable water in the state, adding that the sector is very lucrative since consumption of water is essential to the survival of all.
