The incident happened on Monday as some suspected hoodlums attacked the correctional facility and police command headquarters in the early hours.

The NCS had also confirmed that the hoodlums gained entrance into the facility by using explosive to blast the entrance of the facility before releasing about 1,884 inmates in custody.

However, the NCS has now released names and pictures of 36 of the inmates who are still missing.

NCoS shared the information on its official Twitter handle.

The tweet reads: “Faces of persons who escaped from Owerri Custodial Centre, Imo State. Please note that more photographs of the escapees on the way and efforts are on to get clear pictures for the black spaces.”
