Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, who represents Delta Central Senatorial District, Thursday, graced the public presentation of a book in honour of Aisha Buhari, First Lady of Nigeria, titled, “Aisha Buhari, Being Different”.

The book was written by Dr Hajo Dani in honor of the first lady. The book highlights the evolution of the first lady, capturing her political adventures and numerous empowerment schemes.

The book launch ceremony took place at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Also president at the event are; Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, a national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Other top dignitaries present at the event, include;  Ooni of Ife, Imperial Majesty, Adeyeye Ogunwusi; the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Sa’ad Abubakar III, wife of former Vice President, Amina Sambo and Chairman of Nigeria Governors Forum, NGF and Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi; the former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs under President Goodluck Jonathan, Godsday Orubebe.

The event was organised by the office of the first lady in collaboration with Women and National Development, a gender-focused nonprofit organization.

The First Lady is a vocal advocate for Women and Children’s rights. She had on several occasions used her position as the first lady of Nigeria to campaign for girl-child education.

According to her, no girl before the age of 17 years must get married, agitating that young girls should get primary and secondary school education before getting married.

Aisha is also the founder of Future Assured, an initiative that work for the health and well-being of women and children through community mobilization and health promotion.
