President Muhammadu Buhari, Saturday, has commiserated with the family, friends and well-wishers of the late National Publicity Secretary of Afenifere, Yinka Odumakin, who took his exit at the age of 56.

Recall that Odumakin was President Buhari’s spokesman in 2011, during his Presidential campaign, under the platform of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC).

However, Odumakin would later become one of the fiercest critics of the Buhari-led administration since inception.

Reacting to his demise, Buhari described his former spokesman as a ‘good brother’, who contributed immensely to democracy in Nigeria, noting that Odumakin’s death has caused an irreparable loss to his family and Nigeria at large.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President, Femi Adesina, in Abuja, Saturday.

The President, also prayed to God to grant the deceased a peaceful passage to the world beyond and to grant his family the grace to bear the loss.

The statement reads: “President Muhammadu Buhari condoles with the family, friends and acquaintances of Yinka Odumakin, spokesman of Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere. Odumakin was also spokesman to the then Gen Buhari in 2011, when he ran for President on the platform of Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), now defunct. President Buhari prays God to grant repose to the soul of the departed activist, and comfort all those who mourn him.”
