Nigeria Vs Lesotho: Morale Booster As Iwobi Tests Negative For Covid-19

The Confederation of African Football (CAF), Tuesday, cleared Super Eagles forward, Alex Iwobi, to play in Nigeria’s game against Lesotho, after testing negative for Covid-19.

The New Diplomat had reported that the Super Eagles midfielder tested positive for COVID-19, ahead of the African Cup Of Nations (AFCON) qualifier match against Lesotho scheduled for today.

Babafemi Raji, Super Eagles Spokesperson, who confirmed the development said Iwobi was asymptomatic, adding that he had immediately left the camp and went into isolation.

However, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has confirmed that further tests carried out on Iwobi returned negative for COVID-19.

NFF, took to its official Twitter handle, to confirmed that Iwobi has now been cleared by the CAF to play for Nigeria against Lesotho coming up later on Tuesday.

The association tweeted, “Update: @NGSuperEagles forward, @alexiwobi has tested negative after further COVID-19 tests were conducted.”

Iwobi, 24, made his senior debut for Nigeria on October 8, 2015, against Congo. Since 2015, Iwobi has so far represented Nigeria 44 times, scoring 9 goals.
