The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege has congratulated Master Ugo Ugochukwu, 13-year-old Nigerian-born promising champion, on winning the FIA European Karting Championship.

Senator Omo-Agege in his congratulatory message noted that Ugochukwu’s feat has made him the first Nigerian to get such honour in motorsport.

The Nigerian Senator who represents Delta Central Senatorial District also felicitated with Ugochukwu for signing a long term contract with Formula 1 team McLaren after his win in the FIA European Karting Championship.

Senator Omo-Agege, who is the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Constitution Review called on parents and guardians to encourage their children/wards to participate in sports, adding that this remains the best way to catch them young.

His statement reads, “We are pleased with your development thus far as we look forward to more wins in the near future.

“We also congratulate you on your new signing by Formula 1 team, McLaren after your win in the FIA European Karting championship.

“We also call on all Nigerians to encourage their children in sports participation as the case of Ugo Ugochukwu indicates that with sports, a better and prosperous future can be attained by the country.

“Once again congratulations on your milestone achievement as we believe you have paved the way for other young Nigerians to follow”.
