As Senators resume plenary on Tuesday, Senate President Bukola Saraki read out letter of President Muhammadu Buhari notifying the Senate of extension of annual leave until doctors are satisfied that certain factors are ruled out.

In the letter, the President stated that while in London for his annual leave, he took the opportunity to have routine check-ups and consult his long standing doctors and in the course of the routine examinations certain test result indicated the need for a course of medications.

“Further to my letter dated 18th January 2017, in which I notified the Distinguished Senate of taking part of my annual leave.                                                                                                                                                      “During my leave, I took the opportunity to have routine check-ups and consult my long standing Doctors in Londo. In the course of the routine examinations, certain test result indicated the need for a course of medications and further appointment have been scheduled for next week” part of the letter read.

The President said in the Vice-President will continue to act on his behalf. “I am therefore, notifying the Distinguished Senate that I am extending my leave until the doctors are satisfied that certain factors are ruled out. In the circumstance, the Vice-President will continue to act on his behalf” Buhari said.

Meanwhile, the Acting President Prof Yemi Osinbajo has nominated Adeyinka Asekun from Ogun State as Non-Career Ambassador to the Senate. This was disclosed in letter also read out by the Senate President Bukola Saraki during Tuesday plenary.
