As  local elections take place in various jurisdictions gradually across the country, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Jigawa State, Alhaji Muhammad Adamu, has won Saturday’s Kafinhausa State Constituency by-election in Jigawa State.

APC’s Adamu  who reportedly polled 14,924 votes to defeat other candidates in the election expressed gratitude to voters for giving him the opportunity to serve. The poll which took place across the 120 polling units of the State Constituency was adjudged peaceful and calm.

In line with electoral protocols, Prof. Ahmed Kutama, the Returning Officer, who declared the result at the collation centre in Kafinhausa Local Government Area explained tha the APC candidate floored his closest rival, Alhaji Garba Muhammad Tambale, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who polled 8,612 votes.

According to Kutama, he accordingly declared  Adamu the winner of the by-election, having secured the highest number of votes cast in Saturday’s elction.

However,  there was a third contestant, one Usman Isyako of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) who polled 72 votes.
