From Segun Amure, (The New Diplomat’s Abuja Bureau)

Salihu Tanko Yakasai, a former media aide of Kano Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje was on Monday released by the Department of State Services (DSS).

Yakasai’s release was disclosed by his brother, Abdullahi Yakasai late Monday. He tweeted: “Alhamdulilah. My brother @dawisu is out. Thank you all #freedawisu.”

The New Diplomat had reported Salihu, the son of top politician and human rights activist, Alhaji Tanko Yakasai was sacked by Governor Ganduje and arrested on Friday following his comments asking for President Buhari’s resignation if he could not stop the kidnapping of citizens.

Salihu statement reads, “Clearly, we as APC government, at all levels, have failed Nigerians in the number 1 duty we were elected to do which is to secure lives & properties.

“Not a single day goes by without some sort of insecurity in this land. This is a shame! Deal with terrorists decisively or resign”, He tweeted.

Yakasai’s release follows the outrage that greeted his arrest by the DSS as Nigerians have been campaigning heavily on social media to enforce his freedom to free speech and against his detention.
