A group of protesters under the aegis of coalition for All Progressives Congress on Monday in Abuja appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari and Chairman of the party’s Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, Governor Mai Mala Buni, to resolve the crisis between former governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha and his successor, Hope Uzodinma.

The protesters were seen with various placards and inscriptions such as “restore peace in Imo APC”, “Call Governor Uzodinma to order”, among others.

Stating further, the protesters submitted that the feud between Okorocha and Uzodinma could undermine the party’s strength if not looked into by the APC leadership.

In his words, Dr. Kingman Chikelu, Chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora, said 16 complaints have been sent to embassies on the crisis in Imo state chapter of the party, and urged APC to end the crisis.

Also, Toyib Ibrahim, Youth Consultative Council representative bemoaned the feud, saying it is a show of shame for the party and Nigerians. Most especially for politicians who bend the law for vengeance and others.

“It is worrisome that the future of Nigeria is threatened in the hands of politicians, who are allowed to bend the law or use the agents of the law to intentionally attack political opponents,” the statement reads.

Similarly, APC Students Wing President, Comrade Tiefa Pete, stated that the protesters gathered to register their displeasure on the feud between Uzodinma and Okorocha.

He noted further that the contribution of Sen. Okorocha cannot be overlooked.

“We are here today to register our displeasure over the silence of the party on this matter. Governor Hope Uzodinma should be called to order. His actions will have serious negative effects on the party, as the role of Sen. Rochas in the formation of the party cannot be overlooked.” He said.
